Glad to hear I brought you some joy! I do agree that the final Conjuring film was a little ridiculous. Happy to know someone shares that opinion. It seems that as a whole, movies have significantly degraded in quality. It's a bit saddening, considering the history of cinematography and the classics that were born back then. I also like more extreme horror.. I've never found paranormal horror scary in any way, but if you have any truly frightening recommendations, let me know; I personally lean towards psychological horror. On another note, have you watched Bring Her Back? I watched it a few weeks ago and I personally found it very... cringe-inducing. I really liked that film, alongside Hereditary, which I rewatched just recently, as well. The Exorcist is an amazing film, too, although I don't remember much from it. I could have been 7 when I watched it last. The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a great book. I wouldn't say it's too "scary", but I found it very interesting over the few courses I've read it. In terms of splatterpunk--which is a very cool and very short-lived genre--I would recommend A Certain Hunger, Off Season and Tender is the Flesh; by Chelsea G. Summers, Jack Ketchum and Agustina Bazterrica respectively. That is, if you haven't read them. I also read a book a few years back called something along the lines of: "Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Met"... Unsure of the full title. That was also a very chilling book for me... Okay, sorry. I'm typing a lot. If you do feel like continuing this discussion, do add me on @/SimnRiley, my Discord. My DMs are invariably open.

To be honest, I haven't watched any horror movies that scare me too badly, but I'm really bad with paranormal horror in general, because I dislike the anticipation. I would say that the original IT movie scared me pretty badly when I was younger, and I also think Jeepers Creepers is spooky. I think the older movies are scarier overall, like the Blair Witch or Insidious. I haven't gotten too many Splatterpunk books yet, but I'm on the subreddit often and see that Tender is the Flesh is a very common starter book, so I might try to pick it up soon. I think that I had Grandpappy on my radar, but I also want to read more Stephen King books soon. I like Cujo and the Pet Sematary. I added you on Discord--so sorry for my late response, I tend to let my Atabook rot

Honestly, it's Denji... Yes I am a fraud. I've loved him since I first read it back in like 2021 and I mostly like him because of how badly I relate to him... He is me IRL confirmed. Otherwise, I mostly like Yoshida, Aki, and Cosmo/Pingtsi.

I hear (well, read) you’re a fan of classic literature and horror (*The Conjuring* has been a favorite since I was a kid)… I am sort of hesitant to message people on public sites where I’m considered anonymous (surprisingly enough, I do better when my actual identity is up), so if you do feel like wanting to know who I am, I’m @Dean on Alterspring! I *adore* reading. Just thought I’d say you seem pretty cool, and that Fahrenheit 451 and 1984 are both amazing books. Basically, they’re classics for a reason. No matter the position in time, life, society, trend or law, those books will always ring true in some way, especially with the way the future is looking politically. Good stuff. The rest of your authors listed are also awesome, but I’m afraid of making this ask too long, so I won’t comment on them #Rambling. Thanks for entertaining this little bit of maundering. May glad tidings find you!

I totally saw this and forgot to respond... oops. I was never a huge fan of paranormal horror and preferred to watch gory/slasher ones, but my friend was the opposite, so they made me watch a ton of paranormal horror movies, and now I love The Conjuring... I liked the exorcist as well, it just wasn't very scary to me. I watched the new Conjuring movie in theaters, and it was pretty good! It wasn't as great as the classics, and a bit silly, but I think I'm biased. I also really like extreme books (like splatterpunk), but I also like to read classics, so 1984 was definitely something I enjoyed, and I've read it twice now... I am currently reading The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde! I love getting non-URL-related asks here, so this is a breath of fresh air *_*

I have good URLs so people want them and outbid one another. I also buy them for quite a lot as you can tell so I don't resell unless it's above what I paid for. It's not a hard concept
